Introduction

What emitemail is, how the hard cap works, and where to start.

emitemail sends transactional email for your app: order confirmations, receipts, password resets, one-time codes. You call one REST endpoint or connect over SMTP. Mail is sent from our own servers in Canada.

Why emitemail#

Most email services bill you for going over your plan, so a bug or a burst of traffic can turn into a surprise invoice. emitemail works the other way.

The cap is hard. When you reach your plan's monthly cap, sending pauses. Nothing is billed for overage, ever.
You hear about it early. We email you at 80% of the cap and again when you reach it.
Retries are safe. An Idempotency-Key makes sure a retried request never emails a customer twice.
Bad addresses are handled. Addresses that bounce or report spam are suppressed automatically, which protects your sender reputation.
Products stay apart. Give each product, business or client its own brand: separate domains, keys, limits and sending reputation, free.

What emitemail is not#

emitemail is for mail a person needs because of something they did. It is not for newsletters, promotions or cold outreach, and the acceptable use policy says so. That focus is what keeps delivery healthy for everyone.

"Delivered" to the receiving server is not the same as "landed in the inbox". Inbox placement depends on the receiver, your content and your sending history.
